I've never really been a big fan of Venom. I just thought he was a gimmick villain. That Marvel over exposed and handled poorly. My hatred escalated thousand percent when Spider-man 3 disgraced the big screen.
Over the years Marvel has tried to reinvigorate the character. Their latest attempt is written by Rick Remender and has the Venom symbiote owned by the the government and being worn by Flash Thompson.
Flash an army veteran who lost his legs in action, is offered a chance to work for the government as a special agent. The catch he has to wear the Venom symbiote and can only wear the suit no longer than 48 hours. Anything longer he risks permanently bonding with the symbiote.
Spider-man (Peter) plays a minor role in the book and Betty Brant is Flash's love interest.
I've always been a fan of Rick Remender. Fear Agent is an amazing series. When I heard he'd be writing the series my interested was peaked. I decided would pick up a copy whenever I saw it on the shelf. Figured I'd read them at some point. Well that point has come and I gotta say I'm hooked. The first six issue are really well written. Remender does a great job making me care for Flash and cray as it may seem his relationship with the symbiote.
I highly recommend you pick up an issue. To date each issue is it's own stand alone story and you can probably find most of the older books in the back issue bin.
